Who am I?

The Basics

I’m a junior at Penn State studying Public Relations. I have minors in Spanish and Digital Media Trends and Analytics. I currently work for Summit Recommerce Group at the Uptown Cheapskate and Kid to Kid State College locations doing social media.

If you were to get to know me personally, you would find out that I’m a singer. I’ve been in choir since the 4th grade and I’m now in the Penn State University Choir. I love musical theatre and have stage managed multiple small-scale shows between high school and college. My favorite show is Dear Evan Hansen. I’ve never acted, but if I did, I would want to be in The Laramie Project.

My favorite color is blue, and my favorite food is mac and cheese. Now you’re up-to-speed.

Me in 5 Words:

Ambitious.

Okay, let me get the bragging out of the way. I went to one of the top public high schools in the nation, came out with 37 college credits already under my belt, and am now on track to graduate from Penn State with a Bachelor’s degree and two minors in a short two and a half years. That’s five semesters and one trip abroad, to be exact. I’ve held several leadership opportunities across a few clubs, and I’m always looking for more ways to get involved. Outside of school, I’ve worked since I was 16. And no, I actually don’t think I can sit still.

Passionate.

I care about a lot of things. Don’t we all? But, when I care about something, I am fiercely passionate. Let me put it this way, I care about Penn State. The slogan “We Are” is more than just a tagline to me, it’s a symbol of unity and I think it’s beautiful to be a part of something so big. One time, a friend from home told me “We Are” is a stupid concept. She’s not my friend anymore.

Curious.

I want to know more, it’s that simple. I want to know what you think. I wonder, a lot. I imagine what the possibilities are and I’m interested to see what ways there are to acheive them. It’s what brought me to pursue higher education and communications more specifically. I was curious.

Stubborn.

I’m tired of “stubborn” being a bad word. I am stubborn, and that’s an alright way to be. It means that I fight for what I believe and that I want to do the best I can. It means I’m perseverant. I’m not inflexible, but I do have questions before I jump on a new idea. I could use nicer words like headstrong, driven, or determined, but I’m comfortable with the word stubborn. It’s part of who I am.

Creative.

I’m no artist, don’t get me wrong. By creative, I don’t mean I can paint very well. But I am a storyteller and I can paint with words. I love creative problem-solving and working through puzzles, especially in a team. I find strategy to be creative. Turning data into insights, insights into objectives, and objectives into strategy takes more imagination than it gets credit for, and I love it.
